How to Make a Pony Bead Pumpkin (or Jack o’Lantern)

Materials

  • free printable pumpkin pattern
  • 13 orange pony beads
  • 3 green pony beads (for the stem)
  • Optional: 2 black pony beads (for jack-o’-lantern eyes)
  • 18 inches of ribbon, string, or yarn
  • Scissors

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Start by threading 1 green bead onto the ribbon. Slide it to the center.
For the next row, thread 2 green beads onto one end of the ribbon. Leave them near the end of the ribbon.
Take the opposite end of the ribbon and thread it back through the beads from the other direction.
Pull both ends of the ribbon tight so the second row sits snug against the first one.
Keep repeating those steps and follow the pumpkin pattern to add the remaining rows.
To finish, tie off the ribbon and snip the ends!

Optional Keychain Start

If you want to include a keychain you can add it before the first step.

Start by placing the keychain in the center of the ribbon and tying it in using a square knot.

Then, do the first row of the patten just like all the other rows (criss-crossing the ribbon through the beads and pull it tight). Follow the regular instructions for all the other rows.
