This project came out so much cuter than I originally envisioned it. I love how delicate these little birds are, and I think they’ll be perfect for the spring garland I’m putting together. Bright, light, and adorable – they’re going to be perfect!

This craft is deceptively simple. You’re basically making two loops and gluing a beak to them. It’s is a craft kids could definitely do, and the prep work would be super easy (especially if you had access to a paper cutter!).

Start by cutting two strips of paper. You can make them just about any length and thickness you’d like. The only hard and fast rule is that they must be the same thickness, and the one for the head should be shorter. I used 3/4″ for the thickness, and 6″ and 2″ for the length.

Next, use a glue stick to make a circle from the shorter strip. This will be the bird’s head.

You’re also going to make a loop out of the longer strip. You’ll want about a inch to stick out from the loop to form the bird’s tail.

Now, cut the ends of the long strips to look like feathers.

Glue the head to the top of the body loop.

Cut a diamond shape for the beak. Fold it over and glue it to the bird’s head.

Last, use a marker to make eyes, and your lovely little songbird is done!

April Showers Paper Umbrella

Spring Paper Flowers

Color Your Own Paper Kites

Paper Songbirds, Step-by-Step
