What’s your favorite spring flower? I absolutely love crocuses, probably because they’re the first ones to bloom, and I love the feeling I get when I see them popping those beautiful purple heads out of the snow. Tulips are another love, and of course who can forget about daffodils? <\/p>\n

But hyacinths take the prize for me. They’re kind of a funny looking flower, with that big tower of blooms. But nothing, and I mean nothing, beats their scent. We used to have a bunch of them outside our door in Maryland, and I loved stepping outside and smelling that gorgeous hyacinth perfume. Now that we live in a real house, I’m planning on planting a truckload of these all around. Next year, we’ll have the sweetest smelling house on the block!<\/p>\n

\"Spring<\/a><\/p>\n

So out of my home improvement plans and back to our project for today, these paper flowers are a way to bring that spring excitement inside. There are three mini-tutorials here: one for the tulip, another for the hyacinth (of course!), and the last for the daisy.<\/p>\n

All these flowers have a slight 3D effect, which is kind of nifty, and you could use them for a number of projects. I chose to put mine on a piece of blue paper and make a festive little door hanger<\/a> by adding a piece of yarn. These flowers would also go great on a bunting or banner, or a card. The daisy and the hyacinth can even stand alone if you use a pipe cleaner or rolled piece of paper for the stem!<\/p>\n

So without further ado, here are the tutorials:<\/p>\n

Paper Tulip, Step-by-Step<\/h2>\n

Materials<\/h3>\n

pink paper<\/p>\n

green paper<\/p>\n

background paper<\/p>\n

glue stick<\/p>\n

scissors<\/p>\n

Instructions<\/h3>\n

Start by cutting out three tear-drop shaped pieces from the pink paper. You’ll also need to cut out a leaf and a stem from green paper. <\/p>\n

\"Spring<\/a><\/p>\n

Glue the leaf and stem to the background paper. Then glue the first tear drop to the top of the stem. You’ll want to put it slightly to the left and angled away. <\/p>\n

\"Spring<\/a><\/p>\n

Now glue the next two tear drops overlapping and fanning slightly. That’s it!<\/p>\n

Hyacinth, Step-by-Step<\/h2>\n

Materials<\/h3>\n

yellow paper<\/p>\n

green paper<\/p>\n

background paper<\/p>\n

scissors<\/p>\n

glue stick<\/p>\n

Instructions<\/h3>\n

Start by cutting out an oval shape from the yellow paper. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

You’ll also need to cut out several strips of yellow paper. Mine were about 1\/2″ x 1 1\/2″, and I ended up needing 12 of them.<\/p>\n

And last, cut yourself a stem and leaves from the green paper. <\/p>\n

Go head and glue down your stem and leaves, then glue the oval overlapping the top of the stem. <\/p>\n

\"Spring<\/a><\/p>\n

Now, use your glue stick to glue one end of the paper strip to the other to create a small ring. <\/p>\n

Now glue your rings to the oval. I first glued mine all facing the same direction, but that didn’t really look very good, so I pulled them off and re-glued them, this time, a little more skillywampus. To me, that gives it more of a natural look \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Daisy, Step-by-Step<\/h2>\n

Materials<\/h3>\n

white paper<\/p>\n

yellow paper<\/p>\n

green paper<\/p>\n

background paper<\/p>\n

scissors<\/p>\n

glue stick<\/p>\n

Instructions<\/h3>\n

Start by cutting a stem and leaves out of green paper. <\/p>\n

From the yellow paper, cut a small circle. <\/p>\n

From the white paper, cut 4 strips. Mine were about 1\/4″ x 4″. <\/p>\n

Glue the stem and leaves to the paper. Then, glue the white strips crisscrossing in the center. Here’s how it should look:

Now, you’ll fold over the ends of each of the strips and glue them in the middle like so:<\/p>\n

Once all the ends have been glued to the center, glue the yellow dot in the middle. That’s it!<\/p>\n
