This website is like preschool activity gold. They have activity ideas, free worksheets, and games. I&#8217;ve been using their resources to teach Alex for over a year now, so when they reached out and asked if I&#8217;d like to feature one of their activities on the blog, it was a solid heck yes!<\/p>\n<p>And they didn&#8217;t disappoint. I&#8217;m really excited to share this activity with you, so here goes:<\/p>\n<p>Tic-tac-toe is tons of fun, but the traditional version&nbsp;can get a little monotonous after a while.&nbsp;This outdoor activity challenges your young learner to match three colors in a row (across, up and down, or diagonal).&nbsp;All you need are three paint sample strips from the hardware store to make your grid and the game is on.<\/p>\n<p>For more engaging&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.education.com\/games\/preschool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/www.education.com\/games\/preschool\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1521748142314000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEpjlGDEIBJn8GzfndSqG-w3_1zGA\">preschool<\/a>&nbsp;activities, go to Education.com!<\/p>\n<h2>Materials<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>3 three-color paint sample strips<\/li>\n<li>Tape<\/li>\n<li>Scissors<\/li>\n<li>Medium-sized decorative punch (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What You Do:<\/h2>\n<p>Visit your local hardware or paint store to pick up several 3-color paint sample strips.&nbsp;You will need 3 strips for each tic-tac-toe grid.&nbsp;Choose outdoor colors such as leafy colors (greens and golds), stem or soil colors (browns and greys), or flower colors (pink, blue, or lavender).&nbsp;<br \/>\nTrim the strips as needed so that you can use them to create a grid that is more or less square.&nbsp;If the paint sample strips have cut-outs, use this portion of the strip.&nbsp;If not, use the punch to make a window in each color.&nbsp;This will make it easier for your young learner to match the colors.<br \/>\nTape these strips together to create your game grids.<br \/>\nRound up your young players and head outside for some color matching fun.<br \/>\nEncourage your young learners as needed to locate colors that are three in a row.&nbsp;Young children may find it easier to create three-in-a-row horizontally.&nbsp;Encourage them to try for a vertical column.&nbsp;Save diagonal matching for slightly older children.<br \/>\nThe first young learner to match three colors in a row wins!&nbsp;If this version of the game goes too quickly, challenge them to match all 9 colors.<br \/>\nMake multiple sets of cards suitable for different places (your yard, a local garden, a meadow) and different times of the year (winter, fall, spring).&nbsp;Keep these cards in the car for impromptu games at rest stops or picnic grounds.&nbsp;You can also create a set of cards for indoor play, matching the colors to those found in your home.<\/p>\n<p>Hope you enjoy the activity, and thanks to our friends over at Education.com for sharing with us this week!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/homanathome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Signature.jpg?ssl=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9111\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/homanathome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Signature.jpg?resize=400%2C152&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"152\"  data-recalc-dims=\"1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">Looking for more fun ideas?
