These paper plate dinosaurs were a real hit at our house. If you can’t tell from this week’s posts, Alex is on a slight dino kick. He loved these little guys so much, they even had to go out on our walks and eat dandelions. Now there are no more dandelions around, but I’m assuming the dinosaurs have nice full stomachs.

They’re super easy to make: all you need is a paper plate, some paint, four clothespins, and construction paper. We added stickers in for decoration and because Alex does not believe that a craft can be fun if it doesn’t involve stickers.

Start by painting one side of your plate. It doesn’t really matter if it’s the top or bottom. Also, did you know that cotton balls held by a clothespin make a really good kiddie paint brush? It actually works pretty well!

Once the plate is dry, fold it in half. Cut out a head, tail, and spikes for your dinosaur and glue them inside the folded plate. Then glue the folded plate together.

You can finish here if you’d like and just add the clothespins for feet, which have the bonus feature of making the dinosaur stand up. Or, you can let your little loose with stickers, markers, or anything they’d like for decoration. We made use of foil stars and those binder reinforcers that come in bright colors.

And that’s it! You now have your own paper plate dinosaur friend. Now off you go to find some dandelions 🙂

Foam Ocean Animal Pencil Toppers

Looking for more fun kid crafts? Check these out!
