Christmas is literally just around the corner (3 days, people! 3 days!), and I confess I forgot to have my son make his yearly ornament. Each year, I have Alex make something for our tree. Last year, we did these cinnamon scented ornaments, which were a lot of fun. This year, I forgot and needed to come up with something quickly – something that would only use supplies I already had around the house (I am NOT visiting Walmart 3 days before Christmas.)

I scoured the internet for a good picture of the Nativity and found the perfect one at KidsPlayColor.com. I resized it and printed it (you can find a resized version below). Then, I took some popsicle sticks and cut them in half. Alex colored the scene, and when he was done, we glued the sticks on, added a hanger, and put it on the tree. It was a simple project and it came out so cute!

I ended up doing one for myself because I decided I wanted to put this on the blog because I thought that this would be a great activity to do with groups of children. You could make up a little kit beforehand, cutting the popsicle sticks and the pictures out so all the kids have to do is assemble. This can be glued with hot glue, but tacky glue would also work. I’m thinking this would be great for church groups.

Here’s the full breakdown with materials list:

two large popsicle sticks

nativity coloring page

crayons, markers, or colored pencils

ribbon

construction paper or cardstock (optional)

fun foam or a sticky foam star

glue

15 Ornaments Kids Can Make

Christmas Candy Cans

A Kiss a Day Til Christmas Advent Calendar

Christmas is literally just around the corner (3 days, people! 3 days!), and I confess I forgot to have my son make his yearly ornament.
