I always lose twisty ties and bread clips. Years ago, my little brother Grant made me some clothespin chip clips to fix the problem. They were painted pink with purple glitter puff paint designs and, unfortunately, the last one broke just yesterday. Let’s all have a moment of silence for the pretty princess chip clips and their ten years of loyal service.

Anyway, their demise gave me the opportunity to make new ones. I’ve worked on the original design a little, but the fact remains these are a super easy and versatile craft. They can be colorful and kid-friendly, or elegant and well-designed – and you really only need about 15 minutes from start to finish.

There really aren’t too many steps to these. Start by painting your clothespins any color you like. Acrylic paint lasts the longest without chipping.

Then, decorate! I opted to hot-glue some buttons and twine. My brother used puff paint to make designs, and I saw some really cute ones decorated as sharks and alligators on Pinterest. Your imagination is literally the limit with what you can do.
