They promised the weather would break this week, but it seems they were toying with my emotions. Unless people consider 95 degrees a “cold front.” While I’ve got my dinners for the next bit figured out, my standard sweet treats are just not working for me. Ice cream is good stuff, but I found myself craving something different. Enter these frozen banana bites.

These have only three ingredients, and only take a few minutes (minus freezing time). They are deliciously creamy, with a sweetness that makes them taste a lot better than any healthy snack has any right to be. It’s guilt-free, heat-free, cheap, and easy — you know that makes it a winner in my book!

Frozen banana bites are also a great snack for kids to help out with. Bananas can be cut with a butter knife, and dipping the slices into chocolate is super easy. I’ve recently been learning a lot about Montessori style homes. Basically, it means setting your home up so that the kids can be a full participating part of life in it. I’ve been working on finding recipes where the kids can really be helpful. Most of these are baking, since cooking tends to use sharp knives and high heat, so we’ve had to kind of step back from kitchen stuff lately. These banana bites were a nice way to include the kids again. I forgot how much I missed working with them!

One last thought: toppings. My kids love adding sprinkles to these, and I’ve added a sprinkling of nuts just to change things up. Next time, I plan to try coconut. If you have thoughts on a great topping, add them in the comments. I’d love some new ideas!
