2017 is coming to an end in just a few days, so we figured we’d review the highlights of this past year. In our home, we’ve had some big things happen – we brought home a lovely little baby girl, Dustin graduated with his Bachelors and got a job he’s very excited for, and our time in Cache Valley came to a close as we started a new adventure elsewhere. As for the blog, we’ve been included in articles in the Huffpost, Buzzfeed, feedfeed, and Pure Wow, along with many, many others. Our little community is growing, and we are thrilled to have spent another year with you!
So, in order from first to last, here are the posts you loved the most this year:
1. Rose Sugar Scrub
With its delicate scent and gorgeous color, Rose Sugar Scrub was far and away the fan favorite for this year. Probably doesn’t hurt that you only need a few ingredients and 5 minutes for this DIY.
2. Nativity Ornament for Kids
This Nativity ornament took off in the last few weeks – so much that it went from basically nothing to thousands of views in only a few weeks. It’s a sweet little project that’s perfect for kids – even toddlers!
3. Mug Cakes in a Jar
This little tutorial/printable has been around for a while, but it took off this year. I’m going to blame it on the new pictures – although maybe it has something more to do with what a simple gift this makes š
4. Homemade Playdough
Here’s another old favorite that got a face lift in 2017. This playdough is the best recipe I have ever found – it’s the perfect consistency, doesn’t make a mess, is non-toxic and stores for quite a while.
5. Bread in a Bag
This is a super simple way to make bread with no-mess. The loaf is actually yummy, and if your kids are anything like mine, they’ll love squashing that Ziploc!
6. Foam Ocean Animal Pencil Toppers
Sometimes I’m surprised at what’s a hit, and that’s the case with these toppers. I thought this idea was too simple – nobody would be interested- and boy was I wrong!
7. Edible Finger Paint
This one makes the top ten every year. It’s easy to make, fun to use, and the finger paint actually dries, so you can keep your littles’ artwork forever!
8. Oatmeal and Olive Oil Bath Truffles
This is another DIY I didn’t think would be any big deal, but wow, was I wrong! These bath truffles zinged into 8th place and are a steady favorite year-round. I guess they are pretty relaxing…
9. Christmas Mini-Loaf Wrappers
These little wrappers are the perfect size for gifting. I guess it’s no wonder that they’re so popular, especially around a certain time of year š
10. Rose Water
And last but definitely not least for this year’s top 10 is rose water. This simple recipe can be used in cooking or as a beauty product (hair rinse, facial toner, etc). It’s versatile, easy, and has the most gorgeous scent.
So if you’re still out there reading, I would love it if you would take a moment to answer a very brief (less than 2 minutes!) survey about what you’d like to see in the new year. I love creating content for you, so let me know what you’d enjoy reading!
