Cookie Dough Truffles

Cookie Dough Truffles | Homan at Home

Truffles are my holiday go-to for neighbor and friend presents. The people I give them to all think the truffles are super fancy, when really, they only took a few minutes. A bag of assorted truffles for everyone on my gift list takes me between 1 and 2 hours each year. Back when I used to do cookie plates, I spent a lot longer just baking the cookies. Let’s not even talk about the decorating!

Anyway, I usually include chocolate peanut butter, oreo, and cookie dough truffles in the bags I give out. For variety’s sake, I’ll cover some in white chocolate, some in semi-sweet, and some in dark. It’s easy to just plop them in treat bags, and staple a topper like this one on. People genuinely seem to love them, and I can knock out my Christmas gift list on a Saturday morning before anyone else gets up!

Notes

Note:
The cookie dough center recipe is taken straight from Grey Luster Girl - it's amazing on its own!
You can speed up the hardening time for the truffles by putting them in the refrigerator.

Instructions

I love this eggless cookie dough batter from Grey Luster Girl! It actually tastes like cookie dough, and it was a total life saver when I was pregnant. When I had the idea for these truffles, her recipe was a shoo-in for the centers!

Basically, you’re just going to mix together everything except the chocolate chips. You’ll get something that looks exactly like cookie dough, which is why this recipe is fantastic!

I can’t believe it’s not cookie dough!

Next, you’ll roll the dough into little balls. Mine come out to roughly 1″, but an easier method is to make sure you get 16 out of a recipe. You can make them smaller or larger if you want.

Then cover them! Melt your chocolate by microwaving it for 30 seconds. Take it out and stir it around. If it’s all smooth, then you can start rolling dough balls in it. If not, pop it back in the microwave for another 30 seconds. I usually need three rounds in the microwave before I’ve got completely smooth chocolate.

I use the two-fork method for rolling my truffles. Basically, you use two forks to sort of roll the centers around until they’re covered, then lift them out and set them down on the foil to harden.

That’s it! It can take up to two hours for the truffles to harden on the countertop. I usually put mine in the fridge, and they’re ready to go in 30 minutes or so.

  1. It is 8:30pm right now and I am seriously contemplating running to the store to get the ingredients for these. Woah! These look amazing!

  2. Do these dry out after a day or two? Iā€™m going to try this recipe but my last cookie dough truffles got really dry and flaky the next day
